Mountain Getaway: Blackberry Mountain + Catawba Falls

Wow guys – I thought March was crazy, but April has proven me wrong and been a complete whirlwind – in a good way. The biggest highlight being that Zack and I both landed new jobs, and I’ve had quite a few freelance projects and custom orders with my little biz, Sincerelee Studio. All in all just feeling really happy, so just gonna keep riding that high.

Anyway, I’m trying to figure out how to balance everything but as I’ve said before, this blog is supposed to be a fun, creative outlet for me, so I never want my content to feel rushed or like a chore. SO sometimes it takes me a few weeks to write and edit and blog and video from a trip.

Which brings me to today’s post:

At the end of March, my mom and I went on a little getaway with my cousin and aunt, and we stayed at my cousin’s mountain house at Blackberry Mountain in Tennessee.

It was beautiful, relaxing, and just the perfect way to close out the busy month of March. (Little did I know it was the reset I needed before the whirlwind of April started!)

My mom and I left EARLY Wednesday morning and arrived just before noon. We spent the afternoon and rest of the day eating, drinking, laughing, and soaking in the beautiful views of the mountains around us.

Repeat 2 more days and you basically have our trip. Eating, drinking, laughing, and enjoying the outdoors, but I did want to share a few of the highlights:

Cats Paw Trail

We did a 4 mile hike that led us to a beautiful viewpoint and a unique art piece. Meet “Leo the Enlightened.”

The Barn at Blackberry Farm

Dinner at The Barn was absolutely incredible. We had some seriously delicious food and drinks – there’s a peak at the menu below. the Brebis Cheese Tart was my favorite course of the evening. Oh…and of course the dessert. I cant remember what I ordered, but I just know it included wood-fired ice cream and it was *chefs kiss.*

Catawba Falls

On our way home, my mom and I stopped for a short hike to Catawba Falls. It’s literally RIGHT off 40 (east of Asheville) in Pisgah National Forest. It’s a 3 mile out-and-back trail to a beautiful waterfall. There was a big storm the night before so the water was FLOWING. I highly recommended adding this stop to your itinerary if you’ll be in the area.

And just for funsies – here’s a few more photos from the trip:

It was a great few days, and it was so nice catching up with family. I got to see my aunt last fall at my grandma’s 90th birthday, but I hadn’t seen my cousin since she visited Zack and I in Madrid in 2018!!! And she had a beautiful baby boy last year, so I got to meet him too. Now that we are back on the east coast, I’m sure I’ll get to see them more often, which will be so nice.

I’ve got another weekend trip up to West Virginia planned for May, and Zack and I are trying to plan a few other trips for the second half of the year so quite a bit to look forward to!

Be sure to check out my video from Tennessee on YouTube!
